In which avid cyclists encounter the ecology and topography of Siskiyou County rivers, including the Salmon River, Klamath River, Scott River, Shasta River and many others.

Another major actor in this event is the Pacific Crest Trail, which is crossed twice in two different locations.  The second crossing occurs after the end of a truly brutal climb.

I was reluctant to do the 400k option, but am glad I did.  It has given me a lot more confidence going into the Colorado High Country 1200k at the end of the month.

I held a strong pace all the way to the end.  And, I was very efficient with my time off the bike - maybe pushing that part too far.  I ran out of water around mile 180.  There weren't any known water sources for another 20 miles.  Rather than turn around to get water five miles back, I snooped around the Horse Creek Community Church for a faucet.  It turned out that the pastor was at home and is a cyclist, too.  He let me fill my bottles in his house and complimented my fitness after hearing about the route.
