Not sure if crazy or what I thought was a dirt road was paved last week

Why aren’t more people destroying their bikes out here in sticky mud?

Lookout, Meeker, Beaver, Longs, Pagoda, Chiefs Head, Alice, Tanima, Cleaver, Isolation, Ouzel, Ogalalla, Elks Tooth.

Made decent time to Lookout/Meeker, Beaver then wasted it all trying to onsight Gorrell's. Went poorly and slowly but to the amusement of everyone on Clarks Arrow. Stepladder to summit then went hard AF down the homestretch just to scare people then over to pagoda which was way easier than I though it would be. Ran into Bill and Derreck (LA Freeway-ing with bivy gear) on the south face of pagoda, we used PB's gps and it goes SO EASY. Its silly. I hustled away and last I saw them they were still heading up to Chiefs head. Alice is a ways a way and I got pretty tired on the ascent but found more energy getting to Tanima and the Cleaver (anticlimactic). Peter's sneak around Isolation's N. Ridge is even sillier than pagoda. I love it, so fast, so safe! Almost quit and bailed down the Iso/Ouzel saddle but rallied and ended up running quite a bit of even the uphills to Ouzel and Ogalla. The traverse to Elk Tooth took a long time, its a beautiful mountain but feels sort of Gore-like. For looking, not touching -- rubble everywhere. Its pretty much just a long tower bypass wading through talus then you hop back on the ridge and grab the summit. Bailed down to Pear Lake where USFS says there is trail, this trail has not been used in centuries. It was basically impossible to follow without my GPS (oh, I used PB's gps for EVERYTHING today, I like his style). Then when the trail finally got somewhere it meandered all over the place so even though the TH was 5.5 miles away IT TOOK ELEVEN MILES to get there. Furthermore it would make sense for a trail to a lake above a trailhead to just have a set gradient to get there efficiently -- right? WRONG. Throw a 400ft climb on that sucker and max out the switchbacks. Trails are for horse not people right? Got benighted and did a lot more trail than I wanted too at the end. Actually, it probably would have been just as fast to just finish with St. Vrain and Meadow then deal with that crappy descent off Elk Tooth and the trail!
