This is a redemption story as I just missed the record  19 in 2019 and now I equalled it on a much hotter day (Aussie genetics). And the last three years have been hell with injury. I needed this. Huge thanks to Brian Clements for superlative crewing I would not have achieved this without him. Thanks also Terry, Tania, Sue and everyone else who supported me with cheers and good will.

 Sean Green Jeremiah Macadam @drew timlin and Ross Hamilton thanks for company and pushing me to fight to the death. Stoked you guys made it to so deep and Sean and Jeremiah 18💪💪. Your time will come, you guys are young and ready for the fight. 

Congrats to my coaching clients Lenny and Matt for 13 and 12 despite being new to the grind, super proud coach here 🥹. 

The full tram cheering and grouse MTN helping me with fast tram door opening before grind 19 - which I made only by 1 min before the Gate closed - I will remember the cheers forever. 

The morning was chaotic and I was fired up missing the first tram again (yay PTSD) despite being on time this year (two runners got on and the lead group split when it left 3 mins earlier than it was supposed to). Other than that grouse were amazing today ❤️.

 Channeled it into fight all day inc a 36' grind to catch up. Went deep early but turned out ok. I felt awful all day in legs and stomach but stable enough it didn't get too much worse. sick for two weeks but energy ok, just lots of phlegm still. 

I gave up a few times around grind 10 because 19 felt so unattainable  given how I was feeling in legs with a lot of pain, got 5 mins behind make the tram pace but quickly slapped myself back with a "what are you doing??" call to action!! Fast push to make the tram by 2 secs at sub 40 intensity and legs turned the corner after the slow start. Focused on one at a time. lots of ice from Brian helped a lot. 

For the last ten I was behind splits after 1st half of each climb and only made most of the trams by mere seconds not minutes by somehow lifting the pace. I'm still not sure where it was coming from because I was spent after each of the last 6-7 grinds. 49' grinds were feeling time trial pace. I did a lot of training specifically for the deep end of this event with energy conservation and the heat, it paid off. don't know how I made it but it's definitely the greatest performance of my trail career because of how much it took at such a razors Edge all day long.
