Night Weight Training

OMG. Was not expecting a Pro Class🥈 with this crazy of a field! Tons of vertical and all the power I could muster out of my legs, came to the finish climb with a strong group and decided to go all out at the bottom, got a small gap and sent myself to the pain cave to stay away for 2nd!!! 

Recap:
Started 2nd row but with a neutral rollout for the first 1.5 miles so it was all about staying close to the front in the fierce group of riders but still out of the wind. I put myself in good positioning at mile 5, the base of the largest climb on course. For the next 5 miles, I managed gaps that formed and tried to stay with the front of the race. During this 1,000 foot climb I watched one person go off the front (the winner) and people started to chase after him. I managed my effort to my maximum limit and managed to top this climb at mile 11 in the 2nd chase group of 7 riders. We quickly caught what was left of the 1st chase group and lost quite a few people off of our own group. A ton more climbing later we were down to 7 people in the chase with 2 people with separated gaps up the road. We worked well together and eventually caught the 2nd place guy to make us a group of 8 at mile 25. Over the next 10 miles we worked well and hammered the climbs and ripped the descents, not much flat at all on this course 😵. After most of the shimano guys dropped chains and blew up their drivetrains (not joking btw) on the washboard descents, we were down to a group of 5. Came into the final climbs into the uphill finish and each guy in the group put out efforts to test each others legs, we all survived and came up to the tar leading into the final push, I stayed in the back of the group taking the aerodynamic advantage and came into the final push and let it rip. Saw a small gap when I looked back and went full gas all the way to the line to hold the others off and take 🥈 in the Overall and 🥈 for the Pro Men!!!! 

This season is going far better than I could have dreamed and I’m super pumped to have done the best result I could have being the leader was up the road the whole race. Huge thanks to Dan Goodell for hand-ups on course! It made a difference! 

Speaking Bike Setup:
I couldn’t have been better prepared. My Maxxis Velocita  tires were super lightweight and had the perfect amount of traction for this not too techy course. Tire pressure was perfect and I had done everything I could with my available resources to make the bike as light and efficient as possible. Bike weight was 17.5lbs.
