In true Tour de France spirit I rode from Calais to Nice to traverse the entire country, going through the highest paved road pass in Europe. This is the end of the across France journey and unfortunately also the end of Jonas' title defense.

Carried my full bike packing rig to the top of Col de la Bonette and had to stop/walk multiple times, fatigue+elevation+luggage so it is what it is🫠

The climb felt like a fondo event in the morning, and the entire mountain was filled with campers and bikes and people from all across Europe. And I think there was even a group from Colombia, apparently climbs there are not enough for them.

Caught a good look of the GC group today but there was no action at Col de la Bonette as expected as there's one more climb to go, still very happy to see what I come here for.

Went straight to Nice after the last rider went through and set fastest time for all intervals up to 100km on Strava🥵 I could have gone even faster if there's less traffic but maybe not full sending on foreign roads is a good thing. Caught two DSM riders cooling down and I think they didn't mind me and some other guys drafting behind them. After that I rotated with some riders here and there; not many went straight to Nice and those who chose to were all strong... (I can only find accommodation in Nice so not by choice😂). Went into Nice with the entire caravan procession and some team cars, I think at least a handful of teams are staying in Nice (though staying in Isola 2000 wouldn't be too bad, especially when driving down to Nice literally takes longer than riding due to traffic controls).

No plans for tomorrow yet but I think I need some rest.
