Lots of heat and deer flies today. I felt like a barnyard animal that constantly flicks its tail to keep the flies away. Every time I ran my hand over my hat I could squish a couple, and often as many as 5-6. I’d love to know the square km concentration of these things.

Last long effort before Fat Dog. It was all good for the first 55 km or so, then the heat caught up to me and it was a struggle to get to the finish. No wonder, it’s 33 C right now.

Managed to take almost 80 minutes off my time from last year that was done in similar conditions.
