After devouring two peanut butter toasts, a banana, 60 grams of pecan nuts, a hearty plate of spaghetti carbonara, a protein shake, and four eggs, followed by a rejuvenating one-hour nap, I’ve finally emerged from the relentless grip of the Fatigue Flats to write this...

Despite the heat, today’s slower winds made for a much faster mock-race in the Velo Valley of Cycloshima.  I felt more efficient, sticking to the wheel closer, re-entering the train with less effort, and exiting corners closer to the bike in front. I, however, went for a sprint way too early and obviously lost. Kudos to the two young men fighting the older guys with no fear! Thanks for having me again; it was an absolute blast.

After the mock race, three climbs awaited Alan and me in the Wattalachian mountains of Cycloshima. We both crushed the first one, beating our personal bests by minutes! Somehow, Alan found extra energy to snag two KOMs during the third —a human power plant! I was completely destroyed and couldn't keep up.

Despite feeling wrecked, I decided to tackle two more climbs to meet my fellow QUCC members at Shiraito. The first climb was uneventful, but my body hit the wall during the second. I bonked—or came very close. I felt terrible, and decided to return home mid-climb, barely managing 2.7w/kg. Perhaps I was a bit too ambitious. Unfortunately, I missed a well planned somen event.

All in all, it was another epic day both in the Velo Valley and Wattalachian mountains of Cycloshima.
