This will go down as one of the coolest days on a bike ever. Antonio rolled into the lot around 6 am. Roy was a lot tardy so we rolled out later than expected, but honestly it was in the 50’s at 9 am so it was all good.  Can’t even tell you how good it was to have the 4 horseman back together rolling turns - we intuitively know each other so even on descents we can stay tight and fast. 

And speaking of descents, the Peekamoose descent that we 👑 today was the absolute highlight of my year.  I’m always the slowest descender out of the four of us, but the S5 has equalized that. After almost overcooking a left hander, I closed the gap by half to Scotty and Roy. From there it was laying down power and rolling turns like we were a well oiled machine. It was literally a thing of beauty. Not once did we ever talk about targeting a segment, we just got on the front, did our work, flicked the elbow and dug deep to get back on. I hit 400 watts on this descent…

Last highlight - Sugarloaf. 1,600 ft climb and brutal. Two pitches near the top at 14%.. My third time up and PR’d by over 2:30. Pushed the bottom harder this year which I think made the difference. 

When you have the opportunity to ride with your best mates in new places, do it. It’s good for the soul, I assure you

Oh and Scotty joked about this and I laughed it off, but on the reservoir loop, Roy and and I waited up for him and Antonio… Roy and I would have taken that 👑 easily…
