Race simulation for Megunticook 50k in September. I thought since I'm running an "ultra", I should at least hit 26.2 once before going up a level! I'm sure the FKT will not stick for long! Bear cub sighting in the first half mile was awesome! Joffrey Peters, thanks for leaving a little headroom on this for folks like me :-)

Used poles for the longer climbs and tucked them away when not using them. Coming up from Goose Pond one pole would not stay fully extended, so I tried to keep that on the up-hill side where the trail is off-camber. Very low visibility--in the clouds / smoke most of the way. Rocks were wet and slippery but I was careful and the Speedgoat 6's performed better than expected!

I felt pretty good most of the way, but hit a bit of a wall at 12 miles coming up the back side. Was able to push through and pick up the pace on DH / flats to stay on track. 2L of water with Skratch, and 500mL of plain water--drank it all! Fueled with 1 Larabar, a chocolate chip cookie, a handful of grapes and another of gummy bears.
