50+mph headwind, with some really nasty bits of crosswind in the first couple of miles. Initially thought I'd made a big mistake taking the TT bike but actually enough of it was a pure headwind that it was good to be able to tuck in and grind away. Almost impossible to tell who I was catching and who was challenge, so coming down the last hill I pushed hard to catch the three riders in front, one of whom turned out to be Tom. Sprinted hard out of the last turn expecting him to hold on but he didn't, turns out I was racing for third so I'm glad I did.

Fastest bike split of the day.
