Despite getting warnings from pedestrians, no dramas on Park Lane, but the plateau was lethal, came so close to a big off and then nearly went over moments later trying to set off again!















Consequently, I abandonned the idea of heading back via Teglease; Long Lane etc. and walked back to Old Winchester summit... Then very gingerly descended down to Warnford, up Wheely Down (which looked dodgy while descending earlier) and then down Old Beacon lane. Didn't fancy my chances on Park lane in the dark, so came back through Bishops Waltham and then to Hedge End village via Botley Road (all fine, but my eyes were on stalks).















Moments after warning a group at the top of Park Lane about ice coming the other way, it dawned on me who I had passed, part of the group that I rode with to Thruxton in September. Did any of you twig at the time, or have you now seen in on "flyby"? :D















First ever time ascending Beacon Hill Lane and if my pre-ride calculations are correct, I'm about to create another Strava cat4 segment that heads up the short hill leading to the base of Beacon Hill Lane and up to the White Way junction... That will be two new true cat4 hills I've created on Beacon Hill this year (other is Kilmaston to Beacon, ending before the summit). ;)
