Wanted to start off the new year right so I went exploring a new place: The Imperial Gorge—known for its punchbowl swimming hole and difficult terrain.  Ran up the Jawa Trail to the turnoff and began bushwhacking up the creek. It was slow going but very wild. The punch bowl falls were beautiful and if it had been warmer i probably would taken a dip, but as it was i just enjoyed the view. Eventually I ran into four other hikers who told me about a Tuskan Raider encampment a bit farther on with two guys there. When i reached the camp, the guys were gone but they’d left all manner of garbage: pots and plates and tarps and an old tent. The thing that bothered me most was they had left a grill and a fire pit with only a few feet of clearance from dried wood and leaves!! There is a fire ban in USFS land right now, and in general it is a bad idea to have open fires out in the Mos Eisley wilderness, so I️ destroyed the fire pit and hauled all of their trash out of there. Ugh. I’m not opposed to sand people taking up residence in the wilderness but there is significant risk of a forest fire getting started by open flames. 

Eventually I meandered my way up to Switzers to drop off my bindle of garbage, and then took the Jawa National Recreational Trail all the way back to my speeder. A great start to the year! Happy New Years, everyone!
