What an adventure!
 
I completed the first 50 miles in about 12 hours, went over the 100K mark by 15 hours 15 min which are really good times for me. But at 100K my quads went and never came back.
Someone skipped leg day at the gym once or twice too many times. 😉

It was fast marching until the end which worked with the battered quads and no other muscle groups started to revolt and no signs of any tendonitis.

I had a major wobble when I adjusted the approx  times in my head and realised how late I would reach Dunbar and I worried how my slowing down would affect my crew. People might have other commitments!?
I needn't have worried! I had the best people with me and once they told me "we are here for you until the end" I could relax and concentrate on moving forward.
 
The second night drained the remaining energy I had, there was not much left in the tank when I reached the door of John Muir's birthplace in Dunbar.

A couple of "concerned", definitely somewhat inebriated locals came to check on us, because someone in the pub thought we were trying to break into the house.
"No, no. I just ran the last 40 hours from Helensburgh over here"
"Oh! Ok, then!"

As far as I am aware this was the first female non-stop journey on this route. I picked up the bar from the floor and hung it at a relatively low height of 40 hours 9 min. Don't get me wrong. This is what I had to give and I am very proud it. But here the bar hangs now, hopefully for plenty more women to come and raise it.
