Beautiful day for a trail race! Brian convinced me to sign up for this one and I had a blast. Brian crushed the CR but I held on for a solid 6th and he beat me by less than 30 min which was my goal. The race went out fast on the roads and I hung on in the second group. I was able to pass a couple of folks on the grueling climb up table rock and made it to half way in 5th. I then twisted my ankle in the treacherous path off table rock and promptly was passed. I hung with 5th place for the next few miles to pinnacle summit but he dropped me big time on the descent and I was eager to avoid any injury. The first descent off pinnacle gets pretty technical but it smoothed out near the finish. Happy that I was able to take in 220g carbs, 1L water and survive to the finish. Legs actually felt good enough for a cool down. Really awesome event and course. Holler at me if you want to see my first place in age group medal!
