Afternoon Workout

I have been talking about running around this lake for, uh, 6 months? It was finally time to do it. 😊 exceedingly beautiful and remote. I felt like this was not at all in California — it reminded me of the Great Lakes in Michigan or the Atlantic coast. Sand dunes, cerulean blue water, and little pink and yellow blossoming bushes. Oh, and how can I forget the massive herds of horses! And unlike most of my monthly ultramarathons, there were no real low points! (Except for that one swam of gnats, I guess…). The river crossing was a little spooky with the snowmelt, and the highway running segment wasn’t great, and also I had some mild hyponatremia, but it was surprisingly fun and easy the entire way through. Feels good to be back to ultras now. 😊 No more marathons for me!
I guess I get to claim this FKT by virtue of being the only woman to run around this lake solo 😂
