CityStrides Tuesday: 10 Complete

Pretty solid race this morning, far superior to last week, so I'll take it that as a win. Matt took the race out right away, but came back and settled after not too long. Eric sat on my shoulder for the first mile before just walking away from Matt and I for a commanding uphill win. Luckily he called it quits at the top moving me up to second for the descent. Thought I was running fast until a kid absolutely blew by me shortly after we hit the trails. Still covered the first two downhill miles in 5:23-5:28, but that was no where near quick enough. Sixth mile was a bit slower at 5:45 with the climb, but still had about a minute on fourth. 

This may also be the first time I've ever been this beat up after a mountain race. Started feeling my right quad like half way down, then my back got tight, and the my front near the end (though that was likely dehydration). At least the knee seemed to hold up well, even if I was a bit slow on the descent.

Pretty decent morning, at least from a placement perspective. Still over a minute slower (1:21 to be exact) from my ascent PR and nearly 2 minutes form my up/down PR. Still have lots of work to do, but this was a step in the right direction, and I got a cool fanny pack for winning my age group.
