This spring ski season was one of my favorites yet and it felt fitting to wrap the season up with something big! There were a few options in the running, but we ended up going with Mt Shasta via the Hotlum/Wintun snowfield. Shasta is huge, beautiful, and this route has a 7,000’ ski descent. I couldn’t ask for much more in a season finale ski tour. But, it was forecasted to be HOT! We wanted to be skiing down by 11AM at the latest, which meant a middle of the night starting time. We ended up skiing down at 10:30 and that was pretty dang near perfect. Yes, there was some crunchy snow at the top still, and the bottom was grabby mush, but there were a couple thousand feet of corn in the middle that made it all worth it. Still on cloud 9 from this trip!
