14 000+ cyclists, and I end up solo riding most of it! 
Caught up with the lead group after 15 mins or so, then was dropped around Chipstead, solo riding for an hour then picked up by some BHF freeloaders who were speeding and slowing, leaving me at the front for a few mins at a time - they stopped at the top of Ditchling, so I was on my own up and over the Beacon to the finish.  Was held for an interminable 30sec at lights in Brighton after all the hard work, but was still alone for the run-in to the line.   Official time given as 2:39:59, same as Strava.  Finished 16th of 8,644 finishers (approx 14,000 starters?)  10 mins behind the winners.
