Nothing to lose today, just had to get involved and see how I'd fare. Got a bit carried away lap one, typical, (it felt like the pace I'd be able to hold for a rolling 25 miler), but then you're plonked at the bottom of the climb... Uh, the climb. Yea, pace was a bit too hawt. Start as you mean to go on tho, like I was only 11th at T1, so even by then, the big boys were already putting chunks into me. Amazing atmosphere with all the spectators on the climb, so I absolutely whacked it first time up. But this damn climb kept going and going man, and well before it leveled off I just wanted to just unclip and step aside. Hands super sweaty, so I'm almost slipping off the barebar. Had to ease off for the next lap in order to keep going at all. Really appreciated the downhill section to actually get some respite lol. Not how I wanted to be riding, but I needed to adjust to pacing. Conservative for the second time up the climb, which still required big watts to just keep moving - but that's all I needed to do. Lifted the pace for the last part of the lap after the downhill and being overtaken by Connor Swift. Salvaged my ride somewhat after cooking myself in the first 20 mins. Gave it a good crack, can't complain with that. 

A course like this is always going to be rough at 85 odd kilos. But it was really good to get the experience of my first British Champs under the belt. Then I'll keep coming back like covid to see if I can challenge for a better result next time. Especially if the parcours has a bit less elevation gain. Irish champs looks like a CTT course, get me some of that. 😂
