Well that was probably the coolest stage I have done. Not as hard as we thought but by far was it easy. Day started with crosswinds and had the field single file dodging dirt and concrete plus roundabouts while the break tried to go. A couple guys finally made the break before the start of the mountains. The French set pace and attacked or pushed at the top of each rise. I flatted at the base of the climb and got a new wheel. Smaller cassette but happy to get great help from the team. Chased for 15 minutes and finally made it back before the top of the first KOM. From there I tried to make my fitness last Staying with the group as best I could. Came off on the 3rd KOM of the 5. Going over 8000 feet had me a little dizzy when I looked down. We climbed into the clouds and snow. The villages were amazing up there and you could smell the tagines cooking through what looked like a thousand year old moonscape. We descended through mountains were people mountaineer so that was wild. The pavement and dirt was terrible at 60-70k an hour descending blindly in the clouds with only the Moto in front to guide us. After finally make it back to the dessert our group chased in thankfully a cross tailwind doing 60-70k an hour. Finished in the middle. Happy to make it. Happy not to crash. JM and Michele were staggered in the groups just ahead.
