With Alissa! Not as fast as we hoped, but we fought every mile for this. It was so hot and so hard to keep pace ahead of two of the best to ever do it. Thank you Katie and Bethany for paving the way in so many ways 🫶

This was hard. We made great time the first 10 miles, it was cool outside and we both felt super stoked! Then the humidity came along with the Preston pond reroutes and the calamity brook cross over. We slowed, but were still in it. We tried our best to fight the heat and elevation gain to summit Marcy on pace, and got it done. Then came the descent… my weakest part of trail running. The descent was rugged and unforgiving, I fell and slipped too many times to count. By bushnell falls it seemed it wasn’t going to happen. I lost us too much time. It felt like everything fell apart with just a few miles to go. I was struggling with cramping in my ribs and quads but I had to at least try. Seeing the glimmer of the JBL roof put hope back into my head, but not my body. I was hurting bad. I gave the last 3.5 miles everything I had left. Alissa was well ahead but waited a minute for me to catch up right before the trailhead. We did it with just over 5 minutes to spare. Not the crushing effort of my hopes and dreams, but it got the job done on a less than ideal day.
