I had a long day on concrete touring Chicago. My legs are dead. I jogged the first 15 miles and then it turned into a run/walk for the rest of the day. I resupplied calories and fluid at some convenience stores similar to what I do at the Heart of the South race. However, there was a long stretch with no stores on the southeastern side and the beachfront kiosks on the southern end of the Lakefront Trail were closed, so I dehydrated a bit toward the end. 

I did enjoy the route! This course passes many of Chicago's city parks and wide boulevards with grassy medians and mansion homes along them. Some of the neighborhoods on the western and southern sides were a bit sketchy, but I had no incidents. The eastern side of the loop finished on the Lakefront Trail along Lake Michigan. It was hot and sunny until a massive storm blew in just as I was finishing. I got completely soaked. 

All in all, it was a fantastic day in Chicago on Natasha's first day of Year 6 teaching 2nd grade. I came in town for my cousin's 50th wedding anniversary party in southern Illinois.
