RTTC National 10 mile TT, 20:38 min, 1st 🥇
735 days in the making! Lovely seven hour drive home to let it sink in, well happy with that. Had a goal, and sunk it in the back of the net mate. Exactly one year since my breakthrough result of =3rd at the 2024 National 10, then went ahead and nabbed my first National title this time. Massive thanks to Matt and team Bottrill for the support this year, not sure I would've been as confident on the old P3C today. Wet and grippy. Heavens opened as I was leaving to start, but the sun came out a few minutes before my start. Only bottled my clip in once, after starting with left foot in a muddy puddle at the start line lol. Straight onto the first drag to the RAB, then a crazy quick 70 kmph downhill on rough roads with standing water! Adopted primary position and was alright bombing it downhill actually. Caught a few nasty gusts on the four-spoke (20 mph crosswinds), but nothing I'm not used to from training in Sheffield, so was confident to stay in the sticks! Conservative to the turn, but managed to catch Foxy who shouted me to push on! Got a clean run through the RAB (all three tbh), then onto the major uphill drag of the day. At the end of the day, that's my bread and butter TT Training - VO2 max reps up Manny road. Short recovery will fast downhill sections, then pressing on to the next drag. Felt like the power was good and lifting all the way to the finish - making sure not to overcook it. Same as last year, finished the ride and knew it was good. If someone beat me, fair play to 'em. Thankfully they didn't, and secured the chicken dinner. Knew it was possible, but executing that is another thing and I'm well proud of that. Sheffrec gang getting it done, with Jo Brewis taking the women's title yesterday. Definitely the grippy Sheff roads, checks out. 🤣
