A mix of trail run and hike. Great views atop smarts and on the way up, but disconcerting to see the beach bark disease and then almost complete needle drop on some spruce and hemlocks. My assistant does not think it's needlecast, which is a fungal disease, because the needles were still green. They made an amazing green carpet sometimes up to 3 in thick over the trail. 

On the way back we got the most amazing call from Gabriella purporting to work for cross country mortgage, a loan servicer. She wanted my loan number but she couldn't really explain why she was calling although she thought it was related to refinancing and wanted to put me in touch with a loan officer. Our scam radar immediately went off because she was asking for personal information without providing much and without providing any way to verify her affiliation with CCM even when probed. But it was quite the conversation that lasted 8 minutes. We eventually decided she was human and not artificial intelligence, when we asked her to tell us about a crush she had. She declined to answer but did so in a human way.


We left the call thinking it most likely was a scam. I have followed this up and will have more to report in time. But the shocking revelation is that this was the real company calling.

Near the end we saw a very skilled and strapping young bowhunter. He taught us a lot about the art of the hunt.

Tons of Forest roads that must be added ASAP to open street map. Having the downloaded map was essential as there were many potential turns on the road network back there whether it be for logging or snowmobile.
