Not sure how to sum that up. 

Dropped from the final selection of 12 guys on the descent to great ocean rode, with insaine cross winds (that’s another story). 

Went very deep to ride back across to front group. 

Managed to settle down and found myself jumping into the race winning move with 20k to go with the Danish, Slovenian and Russian (sounds like the beginning of a joke) 

With 3km I launched a solo move on the final kicker, thinking the others looked more snappy than me. I got a gap, but couldn’t hold it. 
Last 2km was tactical and when the danish guy went with 1km to go I didn’t react. Nor did the other two and he rode to the win. 
Fighting for the podium I jumped too early (but didn’t have the kick after my solo attempt) and they came around me. Sat up with 200m to go and rolled across the line 4th. 

Huge shout to Brad Bannister and Shannon Scott | SMP … the strongest on the road and by far and away the MVPs of our age catagory. 

No rainbow stripes for me, but certainly a memorable day out.
