I placed 2nd on the 2025 Yellow Chip Road, open 100 mile race. 

There were 5 of us at the start, no neutral start.

Within 2 miles three of us were off the front and opening the gap, we dropped one by mile 15, and for the rest of the day I didn't see another cyclist besides Ian. 

Ian and I were riding, I would pull ahead on the technical sections, and he would pull ahead on the flats.

I dropped him just before mile 50 on a super technical stream crossing, lots of big rocks and branches. 

I tried to keep the gap open but he caught me within 10 miles and we ride together for another 20.

At mile 70 he started opening the gap, and I decided to take a pee break since it was clear I was getting dropped. 

I bonked SUPER hard shortly after, and was fighting for my life to maintain a 15 mph avg.

I stopped at the next 2 aid stations to eat as much as I could, and the last 10 miles of the race felt better. 

Fairly certain it was insufficient nutrition

Awesome race all things considered.

Ian and I were the only open 100 finishers, the other 3 DNF
