Challenge: bridging the gap caused by Camp Pendleton
Base access required - either attend with an  active/retired military cyclist or acquire a DBIDS pass from the Base Visitor Center ahead of time.

The San Clemente Bike Trail will link you to the Old Pacific Hwy from the north: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6kYhm92kSz3VqjxS7
at the San Onofre State Park entrance.
The Old Pac Hwy will then get you to Vista Point, 10 miles to the South.
At Vista Point, you'll cross under Hwy 5 then proceed South to the  Las Pulgas Bike Path and the Base Entrance just to the East.
~7 miles on the Stuart Mesa Road to Vandegrift Blvd then another mile or so will get you to the Southern Gate.
