Here’s an Idea, Donjon in a Day the Long Way - Failed!

From the Locked Gate to The Vines

National Parks has closed the normal route into Monolith Valley (The Castle) so thought I’d come in the back way….. 29kms from a locked gate (was able to ride 12km)! It took a lot longer than I would have liked with hundreds of fallen trees (from the fires) to negotiate and very rough terrain , and an often indistinguishable route. Then there was Donjon itself! The scrub at its base was so thick it was like a wall. I tried for half an hour to push through but found the going incredibly slow. I was nowhere near the climb to the top! As I still had to walk and ride the 29km back the decision was made to retreat. Donjon (French for Fortress) standing up to its namesake as a secure and impenetrable fortified keep, had defeated me again!!!
