Xmas Eve in PA

Perfect day for the race, upper 40s at the start, and cool air throughout the race.  Nice and sunny this time, so we had great views up top.  Final time was 2:36ish, which is 7 minutes slower than last year, but with the reroute it was a pretty similar effort.  My biggest worry was my breathing issue.  I started getting bad on the first climb, so I pulled back into a hike/run pace that wasn’t too taxing.  The first descent was great, felt smooth and relaxed.  The second climb went a lot better than I thought it would.  I think I ran more than last year, but the lower part of the Scout trail isn’t as steep as the Nuwati/Cragway loop we were supposed to do.  It was easier, but definitely added some mileage.  The final descent was smooth as well, I managed calories well and ran it in nicely.  Shaun Pope was out filming and chased me for a bit.  Overall a great day, glad I was able to make it!!
