Training Ride 85 - 2025 - Early Birthday bike ride, as it was beautiful out there today- 17c☀️👌

Trainer 74 - 2025 - After a day's work, so it was ok

Ok all four of us was there today. The circuit is pretty flat, but there was a strong headwind on one of the straights and you only picked up a tailwind on the short section. The plan was that Calum and Thierry would go straight from the gun and then me and Francis would try and bridge across later. So Calum and Thierry went from the gun, I got on the front and controlled the pace, a couple tried to chase across but only got about 150m in front then we pulled them back. Then halfway round the first lap the 2 up front had about a 30 sec gap. Then a guy attack from the peloton, I got on his wheel to block the attack, but in doing so we opened a gap, so I thought ok let's go, and I bridged over to the front 2 and managed to drop the guy that was coming across with me. But once I was there the cold I have been suffering from the last couple of weeks, started to effect my breathing and I was slowing my 2 teammates, so I decided to drop back to the peloton as I could do better work there for the team by disrupting the chase. So 2 other rider got over to them. So there were 4 up front, so then me and Francis controlled the group. It was working well and the 4 up front were holding the gap. Then we started the last lap the gap was closing, but then unfortunately the race was stopped due to a bad crash involving a lot of riders from 3rd and 4th cat. It was a shame, but it was more worrying as it was a very bad crash with a couple of serious injuries. So in the whole scheme of things the race was not important.
