Up to Cerro Gordo, past the Lee Mines. 1850s abandoned mines and cabins. Iced at the cache, in the old ghost town of Cerro Gordo (previously a mine-town with a pop of 4000). Chatted up by Cerro Gordo renovations contractor and his dog, Dirk. Talked about water rights and LA muscle. Visited the Salt Tram and got caught in afternoon thunderstorms, bivvied and napped. Treacherous off trail descent in darkness ~5000 feet.
