Excellent run on mostly gravel roads in the northern Fort Valley, starting & finishing from the Fort Valley Country Store. Felt good and was able to work pretty hard the whole way! Best run I've had in quite a while, reminded me of the way training runs used to feel normally. Tried to work the uphills a bit and was able to open up well on the downhills, aside from a few spots with ice where I had to be a bit cautious. Roads mostly clear, though. Encountered no cars on Dry Run or Boyer, but a few through Mine Mountain and on Woodstock Tower Road. Noticed that the FR66 gate is still open, & Little Fort is still open too; Woodstock Tower Road is closed/gated above Mine Mountain Lane. Hillside west of the Woodstock Tower/Mine Mountain intersection inexplicably excavated recently w/ large boulders below almost vertical hillside; not sure what the purpose of that was. A bit breezy but otherwise great weather for January-- Cloudy, 51°, dew 43°, SW wind at 10-15.
