Windy and cold as I headed up the snow pile from Lakes, actually had to wear full face protection + goggles.  Then about half way back to Lakes on my descent the wind abruptly stopped and it felt like being at the beach.  Glad I got the early start as there were dozens of hikers out as I got back to the hut, half solid hikers and half goofers.  Favorite part of the day was dropping off the eastern snowfield from Monroe's summit area! :)
