first 20 miles flew by, really nice gravel riding along the Arkansas river (including one river crossing). Then we parted ways with Jack (he had to catch a flight) before turning off the highway onto CR 35. Did some accidental trespassing (no posted signs, gates, or anything!) to get back over to 1a which included some hike-a-bike, sand, and some steep pitches of climbing. Hammered the road miles with Tony and Cordis into WC. Insane crosswinds! Mandatory stop in Westcliffe for food before an all-time gravel segment on Oak Ridge grade. The descent down into Cañon City might be one of the best dirt descents I have ever done. SO good. The final 15 mile climb back up to the cars at the Sand Gulch campground was hard! Everyone was hammering it (CoCo n Jackson leading the way) and there was a brutal headwind. Such a good tour and what a great crew!
