82 starters, Cloudy and not too hot (around 20-25 degrees). Very fast start then settled. Quite a few smallish climbs which helped put some riders under pressure. Amazingly the final selection was made on the decent into Bidache after a tough climb before. I was in the break of 14 and had good legs. Got over the last climb (pene de mu) in a group of 4 with a small gap but it all came back together on the flat. Tried again a few times following small moves. In the final sprint the pace slowed so I went for a long range sortie but ultimately it was too long, getting swamped near the line to finish 8th overall. Still a good day of racing
