Managed to get away earlier today - Karon’s blood sugar was high, so she didn’t need breakfast. I feasted on left-over pizza... mmmmm. Despite a cooler forecast it was still hot. The official Loire route tried to detour us through undoubtedly pretty but dead villages, but on the whole, we avoided these scenic detours. Riding beside the river is pleasant enough. Another small map-reading error meant a short double back, but we’ve only had a few during the entire ride so far. Nice canal side run after Briare. A short, sharp climb into Beaulieu Sur Loire but we found a lunch stop to recover in. Decided to stop overnight at Cosne Sur Loire as it’s a bigger campsite and there’s a supermarket in the town, so we could stock up for tomorrow when most places will be Sunday Shut.
