What a nightmare! Left the hotel at 10am, WAY WAY too late. Got to the start of the climb out of town and it was literally impossible to go. Plus I have a lot to live for - no ride is worth that. 

The day after I drove up that road (and ended up previewing about 60km of our route out of Quito) and at 7:30am it looked doable (although some sections are going to be tough/scary). We will see for real on Saturday!
