The day of reckoning... Luckily was 24th yesterday so started in front pen. Managed to keep up there for 10km rollout then stuck the pace with a huge front group hammering to the bottom of the Aubisque. Then just stepped on the gas and nipped off the front. Carlo and the top 4 guys went past but I stayed ahead of the others, apart from John and Roedi who stuck with me until last 2km. Felt great. Leisurely ride down to the next timing mat - even a few pics. Then up to Soulour and a super-fast descent. Quite a few went past but did pretty well. Then a group of 6-7 of us were at bottom, and just hammered it down the twisty valley. Caught those ahead with maybe 30km to finish (guess) and it calmed down - still fast. Snoopy did some big turns on front, I stuck in group. Then got to Gan and Bastian attacked at foot of climb. I did the same and went past. I think I got caught by some of the group, and we went over the rollers. Then I attacked on the last little ramp; only 1-2 were ahead. Held off group. 4th on day because of Aubisque time, and less than a minute to 1st. Intense day!
