The final ~10 miles of this Strava activity is me schlepping through thick-ass mud while carrying my bike on my shoulder.

I took advice on an alternate route that was supposedly more scenic/challenging. I ended up taking a wrong turn somewhere along the way, and then my bike chain broke.

I decided to stick with the alternate route, sunk cost fallacy and all, but had no sense of how much further I'd need to go, or where the trail would drop me out.

The trail got more narrow/difficult, and then I realized this was a horse trail. Even a mountain bike wouldn't have worked. It was thick mud, river crossings and sand.

All in all I carried my bike for about 10 miles up and down hills through thick mud and then popped out behind Mt Rushmore.
