Little breezy

Set a goal for 5 hours...and did it! First place, new course record. Super stoked!

Very lonely race. Didn't see anyone after the start. 

Got my weight a bit under control lately, back closer to where I should be. Did everything I needed to do to be prepared (minus sleep, but, whatever). Went hard at the start, and just kept going. Kept looking over my shoulder, having no idea I was so far ahead of everyone.

I didn't believe my watch when it said how much faster I climbed Acorn, must be an error? Guess not. It was a good 10° warmer if not more at race start this year, and I felt warm blasts going up Acorn. I thought I might struggle with hydration, but I stayed on top of it and it worked out. Stuck to my plan. Lots of hikers, a hunter, and lots of mountain bikes out and about to contend with. 

Had a wreck near the end of Leprechaun, I started getting too aggressive and I paid for it. Lesson learned that I carried forward the rest of the day to good result. All my enduro time helps with being able to dial back the DH effort, and remain quick. Had a couple near noob like tip over events on the tighter switchbacks that were kinda funny.

Manzanita was so covered in acorns that it was like riding on marbles. Had to be extra cautious, and it shows with how much slower I was. But I made it with no errors. I felt weak going up from South Fork, didn't realize I was actually doing well. Standing and pedaling the whole fireroad climb to maximize traction. Reaching the top, knowing I was almost done, felt like a recharge. Flowing down Boyscout let my legs come back for the final push. 

Saw the time after Boyscout and my mental math said it was possible to hit the goal, but it would be hard. Put out the last bit of watts I had left, and made it. Exactly 5 hours.

Total of 4.5 bottles consumed, same as last year.
