Didn't expect to pull this off today...Only 10k in and my hamstrings and calves were already feeling a bit tight, and the headwinds for a few of those early miles were demoralizing.  I was passed by a handful of runners heading towards the ~9m turnaround, and was almost thinking it would be a bad bad day.  Almost.  I stayed focused on holding form and took what the course gave me and settled in for the next nine miles waiting to see Elizabeth at eighteen.  I started to do some math and at the same time I was catching up to the runners who had put huge gaps on me.  Those final eight miles were a GD grind, and the last three even moreso.  The headwinds were absurd and I was getting pelted with rain, ocean spray and sand.  I'd bet they were 40 mph gusts for the 2.5m on Surf Drive...anyways...it's about damn time.  On to the next goal.
