Broke a spoke after about 20 minutes or so riding with Northcliff guys. 

But at least I got a KOM out of the deal.  I was going hard from Lonehill blvd till engen thinking that was the segment but it looks like there is a myriad of variations of segments towards and perhaps beyond engen. Maybe that is why I KOM-ed because it looks like the segment stops beyond Engen and we all know people for some reason stop at engen and then all of a sudden go hard at 4:55.

kit: gatorskins, training wheels, no saddle bag, pockets stuffed with powders gels, tubes etc. tail wind was ever so faint for the KOM.
