I'm so proud of this crew. Great races, great efforts, great people. The whole thing is so dang fun. CRRC truly has an XC team feel today and we were rolling even deeper than WS1. Chris, Jess, Gretchen, Juan, Steve, Todd, Justin, Graham, Kyle. Plus Adam, Corinne, Dill fam, and Swanson fam out cheering. Matching shirts/hats on the startline - it feels official?🤣😜

WS2 has a flair with the trail race - I do love that the series has this one in it. PPRR had it dialed per usual - shoutout to Jenn, Jeff, Andy. Weather was awesome and it was great to see Steph, Jeana, Todd on the volunteer side and Joe G, Chad, Dean, Cory, and others racing.

On to my performance - 9th OA, 6th AG. 1:00:11 - EXACT same time as last year on this course - pretty different splits tho. On the outset I was disappointed to not eclipse the clock time from last year. Most were well under last year's time. I think maybe I thought it was a forgone conclusion that I would given last year's snowy conditions and this year's relatively dry course. I got out a bit faster but controlled and finished faster - but faltered in the middle miles. It's tough looking back on it and feeling like I left something on the table... I do think I let myself justify slowing by visualizing a measured effort over the remaining distance rather than staying present with the mile I was in. Maybe I need to go back to wearing an HR monitor during races to see if that's really the case. 

Despite the self-criticism - I'm still very satisfied. Racing is (and should be!) hard. Some days you just don't hit it on the sweet spot and that's ok! 😃
