The inaugural "Feb Fifty" was a success! An idea with humble origins from last August as a small meet-up to leverage 2020's leap day slowly evolved beyond any expectation over the past six months. Distances climbed, the idea of running every trail in PSP emerged, and ultimately  Warren’s masterful marketing inspired 35 eager runners to tow the (entirely unofficial) start line, with Kate & Ryan’s manually optimized, hand-drawn and lovingly printed & laminated maps in hand. 

Most had more than one-degree of separation from us organizers, resulting in a fantastic mix of PSP enthusiasts, YVR striders and general trail lovers. Also had a great mix of target distances, with some joining for the first 5km, others out to push the bodies’ limits, and an impressive amount completing the whole map (10/35).

So grateful to all who came out to make this a real thing, for the comradery and the interpersonal inspiration all day long. With that many people there’s always someone on a stoke-streak to bring the crew up. Also loved having a decent number of Strava & CityStrides e-friends come to life in reality for the first time with this West coast adventure. Running with friends is fun!

On a personal note, this sets a new high watermark for ultras. Murphy’s Inverse Law was at play as everything went right with weather, fueling, gear, pacing, and hydration. Early season ultra and feeling gooooood.
