Good effort mate - nice average
Thanks Jon. I only saw one other person without drop handlebars, and I think I might have had the only bike with a bell :-) Today was great, but my back.... oh. Did you start in the front 1000? I was somewhere in the middle I guess. Took 12.5 mins on Strava before I was actually riding the bike.
I started with the main group terry so I lost a lot of time
@Jon And then there's the small matter of your 80km of warm up / warm down.... OMG.
That's madness Terry. I could have lent you my Brompton....
@James I was tempted to ask, but I figured you'd be using it :-) Maybe next year. BTW, results have been posted to http://www.tourofcambridgeshire.com/Tour_of_Cambridge_Gran_Fondo.php
I saw- I came 59th :-)) (in a very small aged group)
I was 133rd in the same age group. I think I accidentally qualified for the amateur world championships (there were 650+ in our category). I guess I should now try to get myself invited to some Cambridge cocktail parties.
Apparently you need a racing licence as well....
@james - what was your age group
same as terry = 50-54yrs (male!)
Ah ok cheers
@jon - i see we finished within seconds of each other.... (i went slowly down the final straight!)
Was anyone else let down by the "goody bag"? I thought we gave a t-shirt size preference in registration, but maybe I misremember. Anyway, I didn't have the energy left to look in the bag post race, but it felt promisingly weighty. At home I finally opened it, and found just a bottle of water and a bunch of advertising materials.... and no t-shirt :-( The official ToC jersey at the event seemed ridiculously expensive.
