Making the most of a day off (part one)

I've been scheming over this route for months, imagining how I would want to offer up the Blue Mountains in one adventure to a visiting ultrarunner or hiker. It loops the Blue Mountains, swerving along my favourite trails through stunning landscapes to swimming holes and waterfalls and rainforests. It can be run in either direction, starting anywhere. I chose to start by running out the back door!

Big thankyous to the people who went out of their way to help me: Jose paced the last seven hours, Emily and her son met me in the rain at midnight with a dropbag, David lent me a PLB, my brother and fiance rushed up the hill to bring me a battery pack... what a community!

14 hours longer, 3000m higher and 34 kilometres further than I've run before. Wanted a big adventure and oh boy did this deliver!
