Trying to set a baseline FKT.  I planned this date when the forecast showed clear weather most of the week to dry out the trails, as they had been drenched.  But then it dumped more than half an inch immediately before I started.  Trail was a muddy disaster much of the way, but it was gorgeous out there.  Lots of water in the gullies, wildflowers, red newts, deer and fawns.  Found it pretty hard to keep focus and intensity in a non-race setting and so my effort flagged a bit in the middle.  The mud and lack of opportunities for efficient running encouraged it.  I took a tiny wrong turn in the first mile or so, just at the top of the road but only lost a minute or two.  I was excited to push hard at the end once I got off the single track, but caught a run-stopping groin cramp on the greenway section around 22.  Had to stop and walk it out, and then dial it back a bit for the last 4 miles.  Good day.  Lots of room for improvement, especially on a dry trail day.  
Actual elevation gain was about 3100, per my watch before strava inflatded it.
