A scary looking woman, not all that unlike Tubs, queried our passage along the bridleway. Quick as a flash captain Slats (Edward) appeared from behind a curtained doorway.....”what’s this? we’ll have no trouble here” “this is a local bridleway an we are local people”.
Farmer Tubs shrunk back, her demeanour now of a new found adulation as she ushered us through the gateway and beyond, calling out “I’m glad you’re one of us”.
I’ve never pedalled so hard !
