Testing out some Altura PROGEL 3D shorts today that Altura sent me along with the Altura Jacket, topped off with a nice tee too! I like to wear a bit of cotton, I prefer it to the heat you get with man-made textiles as the jacket is. 

The shorts, though, are 80% Nylon 20% Spandex. I like the hug of the spandex, it feels different to lycra so that is a win for me. I have a size medium and am 32-34cm waist. The seat pad is very comfy and is a nice size. It's not for racing, it's too big for that but on fitness/training rides it gives you some real good comfort. The stretchy, grippy knee bands really hold the shorts in place with no rise up whatsoever which is good and gives your lower quads a strapping boost too. On the waistband there's a pull string that can help increase tightness if they are slightly loose, no chance there in Lockdown though with all the beers and food 😜

This ride had some elevations, so I was out of my seat a fair few times. There was only a slight bit too much padding to slip straight back on to my seat after a climb at times, part to do with fitness though and I always wear my shorts low on the waist anyway so I know I can sort that, I just like breathing space inside my shorts that's all 😅.

Overall these PROGEL 3D shorts do the business and I've been riding them for over a year now. I recommend them 100% One thing I did, early on when I got them, I used bio washing detergent which meant some of the lower grip parts deteriorated. The tag says to use non-bio so I've done ever since. Wash life has meant that they have probably been through a good 100 washes and still do not show signs of bobbling, stitching problems or seat pad loss. They are made to last!
