Zwift - Overgeared Z2 on Spinfinity Ultra in New York

Seeking out a couple of climbs from the top climbs book this morning, the two in the title. Also fancied a longer road loop, at least yesterday I did 😄

Love the road to Portree on a bike, not so much in a car, and early doors I was 10 miles in before I saw anything on the road.

Right that first climb, Glenmore or Ben Grasco. 👌. It’s ratio of gradient to length hit all the right spots. Somehow despite looking at the map I expected it to go up the Glen slightly left, but it went up and over the hill. Switchbacks were nice, and a little sheep encouragement too. Continued to the end of the tarmac - there’s a decent little ramp to get back along too, and the tarmac is much rougher. Liked this one, liked it the mostest until an hour or so later threw that into dispute 😄

Portree was sleeping, no actually everywhere was sleeping, as seems to be the way on Sunday here. Scooted through and headed north. Old Man of Storr just visible under some low cloud, tourist thingy - tick.

Just before Staffin I spotted a heavy shower heading across from the west - cue looking for a bit of shelter. A dodgy bus stop with a road sign for a roof would have to do 😆. Waited it out there, no point getting wet only half way round, and they were briefish heavy downpours.

Back on the road did the last couple of miles north before my turn. At the turn I paused to take the rain jacket off, road spray was ok now. And Quiraing.

Phone was tucked away in its rain jacket so no photos, and I was too busy spinning the legs. What a little stunner. Very much like what I remember the Bealach na Ba to be, just minified. No actually, steady but consistent start, mountain all around, approach the back wall for an increase in gradient and hairpins 👌.

Not much on the remainder of the ride other than shouting at the breeze and to my legs to shut up. I’m glad this ride wasn’t a mile longer though 😬. Nice view of Uig though.
